EPL: Lescott names two strikers Arsenal should’ve bought instead of Gyokeres

Former Defender Critiques Arsenal’s Transfer Decision
LONDON – Joleon Lescott, a former defender for Manchester City, has suggested that Arsenal may have made a misstep in their recent transfer strategy by signing striker Viktor Gyokeres instead of exploring other options.
Arsenal acquired Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon last summer, but the 27-year-old has struggled to replicate the impressive form he displayed in Portugal. Although he has shown improvement this season, fans remain hopeful for a higher level of performance.
Lescott pointed to Chelsea’s Joao Pedro and Liverpool’s Hugo Ekitike as potential alternatives to Gyokeres. “I thought Viktor Gyokeres was brought in to start for Arsenal and play in all the big games,” he said in an interview with Sky Bet, as reported by Metro UK.
“They brought in Gyokeres because they believed he was the best of the available strikers. It’s easy to say now that Arsenal should have gone for Hugo Ekitike. Joao Pedro is another striker I’m surprised they didn’t consider,” Lescott added.
As Arsenal continues to evaluate their squad, the choice of strikers will remain a topic of discussion among fans and analysts alike.
