Gary Lineker Names Bruno Fernandes Player of the Season
Former Barcelona forward Gary Lineker has selected Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes as his Player of the Season.
In an episode of The Rest Is Football podcast, Lineker commended the Portuguese midfielder for his tactical intelligence on the field. His remarks followed Fernandes’ noteworthy performance in Manchester United’s 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Sunday.
“He operates across the pitch, from the left wing to the right wing… what a brain!” Lineker stated. He acknowledged that while the award may likely go to a player from a title-winning team, he firmly believes Fernandes deserves the recognition.
Lineker also mentioned that Declan Rice could be a contender if Arsenal secures the league title, adding, “For me, it’s probably him or maybe Declan Rice if Arsenal go on and manage to clinch the title.”
