Statement from Former Senator on Allegations Against Ex-Governor
Former Senator Shehu Sani, who represented Kaduna State, has called on the state’s former governor to address accusations leveled against him instead of diverting attention with what Sani labeled as “phantom claims” against National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu.
In a post on social media platform X, Sani questioned the timing of the allegations, highlighting that they emerged only after the ex-governor’s invitation by authorities. He urged the former governor to confront the allegations directly.
“The ex-Governor of Kaduna State should focus on the allegations before him and clear his name,” Sani stated. He expressed skepticism about why such sensitive information had not been disclosed earlier. “The delay in revealing this information raises questions,” he said, adding that the former governor’s actions should be disregarded.
Sani also indicated that some individuals and families affected during the former governor’s administration have chosen to forgive him. “For those of us whom he once traumatized, we forgive him but urge him to manage his accountability with maturity and decorum,” he said.
He warned that failing to hold public officials accountable for their actions could send a troubling message to current leaders. “If our society continues to protect past leaders from accountability, it implies that those in power today may also act without fear of repercussions,” Sani concluded.
