Families of 10 passengers kidnapped in Benue seek security intervention

Ten Passengers Kidnapped on Busy Benue State Road
BENUe STATE — Ten passengers, including a female grain trader, were abducted on Monday, February 9, 2026, along the Takum–Tor Donga–Katsina-Ala road.
The kidnapping occurred around 10 a.m. while the victims were traveling from Takum in Taraba State to the Tor Donga Market in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State. Suspected kidnappers intercepted the group on the busy route linking the two areas.
A family member confirmed that the incident took place at Tse-De settlement, within Katsina-Ala LGA. The grain trader was reportedly en route for business activities at the market when she was taken.
As of Sunday, February 16, family members reported no contact from the abductors, raising concerns about the victims’ safety and well-being. Relatives have urged security agencies to take action and increase efforts for their release.
The Public Relations Officer of the Benue State Police Command, DSP Udeme Edet, had not confirmed knowledge of the incident at the time of this report.
The Takum–Tor Donga–Katsina-Ala road has experienced heightened security concerns in recent months. Residents have called on authorities to enhance patrols and surveillance in the area to combat criminal activity.
