FCT polls: Nigerians have spoken for themselves – Keyamo

Minister of Aviation Comments on Recent Elections

The Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, expressed his views regarding the recent elections held in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and the by-elections in Rivers and Kano states, stating that the results reflect the voice of the Nigerian people.

In a post on his verified X account on Sunday, Keyamo noted that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) conducted elections in the FCT and by-elections in Rivers and Kano on February 21. He emphasized that the outcomes indicate a genuine representation of Nigerians’ opinions.

“The real Nigerians have now spoken for themselves,” Keyamo remarked, distancing the electorate from what he termed “those who pose for cameras” in front of the National Assembly. He criticized certain journalists and opposition figures who, he claimed, do not genuinely represent the views of the public.

Keyamo urged individuals and groups to express their opinions clearly and avoid misrepresenting themselves as spokespeople for all Nigerians. “When you make your point, clearly state it is your own belief or the position of your NGO or organization, but do not pose as some Voltron defending a majority of ‘Nigerians,’” he stated.

His comments come in light of ongoing discussions surrounding representation and accountability in Nigeria’s current political landscape.
