Five Killed in Attack in Plateau State
BARKIN LADI, Nigeria — Five Fulani youths were killed in an alleged unprovoked attack on February 19 in the Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, according to community sources.
Reports indicate that the victims were ambushed by suspected members of the Berom militia while returning from Dorowan Babuje. The attack occurred around 7:00 p.m. as the youths traveled through the Jong Fulani community.
Three of the deceased have been identified as Tahiru Muhammad, Jibrin Salisu, and Abdulmumin Isyak. Eyewitnesses reported that one victim was beheaded, while the others were shot during the confrontation.
Security personnel recovered empty 7.62mm Special cartridges from the scene, as well as a motorcycle believed to belong to the victims.
A community source stated that families of the victims have been informed that security forces are pursuing the attackers, though there are concerns about the effectiveness of the response.
