Former "Jeopardy" champ and NYC teacher surrenders on child p0rn charges

Winston Nguyen, a former math teacher at Saint Ann’s School in Brooklyn Heights and a past “Jeopardy!” champion, has surrendered to authorities over charges related to child p0rnography.

 

Nguyen turned himself in to Brooklyn prosecutors on Thursday, July 25, a month after allegations surfaced accusing him of catfishing m!nors and sharing expl!cit images with them via social media. He faces charges of using a child in a s3xual performance and promoting a s3xual performance by a child. He was arraigned in Brooklyn Criminal Court on Thursday afternoon.

 

According to reports from The New York Times, Nguyen allegedly solicited expl!cit images from five girls and one boy, students from four different schools. He is accused of posing as a teenager online in an attempt to get students to send him X-r@ted images on at least 11 occasions.

 

Nguyen was initially arrested in front of his students at Saint Ann’s School but was later released as authorities conducted a thorough investigation into his personal devices. During this period, he was placed on administrative leave from his teaching position.

 

Nguyen is also known for his two appearances on the popular quiz show “Jeopardy!” in 2014. This is not Nguyen’s first legal trouble. In 2017, he was arrested and served time at Rikers Island for stealing over $300,000 from an elderly couple.
