Four Police Officers Dismissed in Connection with Deaths of Seven Traders in Lagos

LAGOS — The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, announced the dismissal of four police officers for their alleged involvement in the killings of seven traders in the Owode Onirin area.

During a press conference at the Ikeja Police Officers’ Mess, Jimoh confirmed that investigations into the incident are ongoing.

The dismissed officers were reportedly brought into Lagos from Nasarawa State by the primary suspect, identified as Ariori, who is believed to have played a role in the killings.

Jimoh emphasized the command’s commitment to delivering justice for the victims, stating that key evidence, including ballistic tests and autopsy reports, will be integral to the prosecution of those responsible.

“This matter has not been swept under the carpet,” Jimoh said, urging the public and the victims’ families to trust in the police’s determination to ensure justice is served. He added that all suspects will face prosecution and reiterated that the courts are available to hear the cases.

The commissioner underscored the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to maintaining law and order, asserting that no individual or group would hinder the pursuit of justice. He disclosed that nearly 98 percent of the investigation has been completed and assured residents that the police will take necessary measures to protect lives and property throughout the state.

Jimoh also called upon residents and traders to remain vigilant and collaborate with law enforcement agencies, reiterating the command’s dedication to public safety.

This tragic incident occurred in August 2025, following a clash between suspected land grabbers and traders in the Owode-Onirin area.
