GOC convoy repels ambush, neutralises five terrorists

Major General Escapes Ambush by Suspected Terrorists in Kebbi State
A convoy led by Major General Bemgha Koughna, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 8 Division and Commander of Sector 2 of the Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, narrowly avoided a potentially deadly attack by suspected Lakurawa terrorists near Mayama Hill in Kebbi State.
Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for the 8 Division, reported on Monday that the incident occurred while Major General Koughna was en route to visit frontline troops stationed in the area.
In the face of the ambush, Major General Koughna and his accompanying team engaged the attackers with considerable firepower, resulting in the neutralization of five terrorists and successfully repelling the ambush.
Authorities recovered a range of items from the scene, including one OJC gun, one PKT gun, two AK-47 rifles, four AK-47 magazines, a bandolier of PKT ammunition, several rounds of 12.7mm ammunition, N840,000 contained in a camel bag, two mobile phones, and five motorcycles.
