Gov Idris directs immediate investigation of fire at Kebbi Quranic school

Investigation Launched Into Fire at Kebbi State School
BIRNIN KEBBI, Nigeria — Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has initiated an immediate investigation into a fire that broke out at the Nurul Haqq Quranic and Arabic School on Saturday evening.
The blaze affected several hostels and classrooms within the school premises. Yahaya Sarki, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, announced that a committee will be established to determine the fire’s cause and develop recommendations to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Eyewitness reports indicate that Governor Idris was passing through the area when he observed thick smoke and stopped to investigate. Upon discovering that the smoke was emanating from the school, he alerted emergency responders, including the Kebbi State Fire Service, who worked for several hours to extinguish the fire.
During the operation, more than 140 students were safely evacuated, and officials confirmed that no fatalities occurred.
Investigators noted that the presence of gas cylinders in some student dormitories likely contributed to the fire’s intensity. The affected students have been relocated to the school’s main branch, and authorities are expected to commence their investigation promptly.
