Kano State Governor Relieves Head of Service of Duties
KANO, Nigeria — Kano State Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has relieved Alhaji Abdullahi Musa of his position as Head of Service, effective immediately. This decision aims to restructure the state’s civil service for improved efficiency and service delivery.
Abdullahi Musa’s tenure as a civil servant had officially ended in 2024, yet he continued in his role despite previous controversies surrounding the extension of his term.
In a statement released Tuesday evening, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the governor’s spokesperson, confirmed the decision, highlighting the administration’s commitment to enhancing civil service performance and discipline.
Governor Yusuf expressed gratitude for Musa’s contributions during his tenure, wishing him success in his future endeavors.
As part of the transition, Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu Maimota, the Permanent Secretary for Administration and General Services at the Cabinet Office, has been appointed to serve as Acting Head of Service until a permanent replacement is selected. Musa is instructed to transfer responsibilities to Maimota by the end of the day, Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
