Gunmen Attack Police Checkpoint in Kebbi State, Two Officers Killed
BAGUDU, Kebbi State — A tragic attack occurred Thursday when gunmen targeted a police border checkpoint along the Bakin Ruwa–Maje road, resulting in the deaths of two officers.
Eyewitnesses report that the assailants, arriving in large numbers, opened fire indiscriminately at the officers on duty. They subsequently set the tent used by the officers ablaze.
The Nigeria Police Force confirmed the incident. SP Bashir Usman, the force’s spokesperson in Kebbi, stated, “They killed two of our officers and burnt down the checkpoint, but the police are on top of the situation. I will issue further details.”
This incident marks the latest in a series of attacks along the Bakin Ruwa–Maje border corridor. Earlier attacks in the area have resulted in fatalities among personnel from the Nigeria Customs Service and the Nigeria Immigration Service.
