Herders repel bandits’ attack, recover firearm in Benue

Suspected Bandits Attacked by Herders in Benue, Firearm Recovered

Buruku Local Government Area, Benue – Herders successfully repelled an attempted attack by suspected bandits on March 10, recovering a locally fabricated firearm left behind in the process.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the incident occurred around 4:30 p.m., prompting a report to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Buruku. The assailants confronted herders who were grazing on a cassava farm owned by Kwagh Orshio A. Gande in the Tse Agbatar community.

In a fierce confrontation, the herders resisted the attack and managed to drive the assailants away. During their escape, the bandits abandoned a revolver at the scene.

Police mobilized patrol teams in coordination with the Operation Anyam Nyor security outfit to investigate the incident. They reported that no casualties occurred during the altercation and are currently working to locate the fleeing suspects for possible apprehension.
