Nigerian Actress Receives Support Amid Threats from Ex-Husband
Nigerian actress Etinosa Idemudia has recounted an alarming episode involving threats from her ex-husband and the timely intervention of fellow actress Mercy Johnson.
In a recent interview with Chude, Idemudia explained that the threats intensified after she candidly discussed her past relationship during a media appearance. According to her, her ex-husband misinterpreted her comments, which led him to threaten her safety.
Initially, Idemudia attempted to manage the situation discreetly. However, as the threats escalated, she turned to social media, seeking assistance.
Johnson responded by leveraging her military contacts, escalating the matter to the Chief of Naval Staff in Abuja. This action resulted in authorities becoming involved, effectively ensuring that Idemudia would no longer face harassment.
Idemudia provided insight into the circumstances surrounding the interview that triggered the threats. “I went for an interview for a film, ‘Stormy Heart,’ and at that time, I was quite naive,” she said. “I didn’t know how to navigate questions or deflect them.”
She expressed surprise at how the media misrepresented her comments about her past relationship, stating, “I was shocked—nothing I said about the film was included. My ex-husband confronted me, accusing me of ruining his career.”
Facing increasing demands from her ex-husband to retract her statements, she ultimately sought help on Instagram. “Mercy Johnson reached out to me because she has a very strong military background,” Idemudia noted. “She informed me that she would forward my case to the Chief of Naval Staff, and soon after, someone from Abuja contacted me to assure me that this person would not bother me anymore.”
Etinosa Idemudia was previously married to military officer Babatunde Solomon. The couple’s marriage ended between 2017 and 2018. She later married lawyer Ighorosa in Benin, but they divorced in 2021 following the birth of their first child.
