Writer, Ikhide Ikheloa, has berated the presidency on how it has handled the Ibadan stampede that claimed the lives of 35 children.
In a post shared ion X, Ikhide said in “saner” countries, the President would have opened a crisis center where hourly updates would be given. He wrote
‘’Nigeria. This is why there is a respect deficit for Nigeria all over the world. Thirty five children die in a stampede over pennies. In a sane society, if 35 dogs die by stampede, the president would open a crisis center with hourly press conferences providing an update about the situation, we would know the names of the victims, there would be grief counselors and professionals walking loved ones through the process, and of course real answers as to what steps will be taken to ensure this does not happen again. Thirty five children died trying to collect $3 each. Three dollars. Let that sink in. Our children’s lives are not as valued as those of dogs in other nations. Kemi Badenoch is our problem.
We are not okay.”
