‘I’m in pain’ – Portable laments poor streaming revenue despite multiple releases

Nigerian Singer Portable Expresses Concerns Over Low Streaming Revenue
Nigerian artist Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, better known as Portable, has voiced his frustrations regarding the inadequate streaming revenue he receives despite his frequent music releases.
In a recent video, the artist, famous for his hit song “Zazu,” stated that his earnings from platforms like Apple Music were disappointingly low, even though he releases new tracks monthly and claims to have an international fan base.
“I’m in pain,” Portable said in the video. “I have been putting my songs on Apple Music every month, but the money I am generating is too low. They say it is because Nigerian streams are cheap, but I also have fans in America and around the world. Where is the revenue from those foreign streams?”
He made a public appeal to music executive Don Jazzy, urging him to provide guidance on increasing his revenue from streaming services. Portable elaborated, “I have an Apple Music account, but the revenue is very low. They divide my earnings into 17. Please, Don Jazzy, help me learn how to generate more income from music streams.”
Portable expressed confidence in his potential, stating, “If Don Jazzy teaches me how to generate more money from streaming platforms, I would be bigger than all artists in Nigeria.”
