Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has expressed his condolences following the death of Nigerian football legend Henry Nwosu, who passed away at the age of 62.
In a message shared on his verified X account on Saturday, Obi reflected on the impact Nwosu had on Nigerian football and the nation’s spirit. He described Nwosu as a “great patriot” whose talent and energy uplifted the country on the football field.
“Henry Nwosu was a key member of the team that secured Nigeria’s victory at the 1980 Africa Cup of Nations,” Obi commented, recalling the memories that united Nigerians during that celebrated time. “He showed us that sport can inspire hope, pride, and a sense of national belonging.”
