INEC commissioner resigns as 5 others retire

Chairman of INEC’s Info and Voter Schooling Committee, Festus Okoye, stated Nahuche resigned as a result of private causes, and his resignation had been accepted by President Muhammadu Buhari.

“INEC Nationwide Commissioner and Chairman, Property, Works and Transport Committee, representing North-West, Abubakar Nahuche, resigned his appointment on private causes and the President has accepted his resignation and thanked him for his companies to the nation,” he stated.

Nahuche’s resignation was introduced simply after 5 different nationwide commissioners left the electoral fee after the expiration of their phrases.

Solomon Soyebi, Baba Shettima Arfo, Amina Zakari, Prof. Antonia Taiye Okoosi-Simbine, and Dr Mohammed Mustafa Lecky all stepped down throughout a ceremony on the fee’s headquarters in Abuja on Monday.

INEC chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, also stepped aside and handed over the affairs of the fee to the retired Air Vice Marshal Ahmed Mu’azu, nationwide commissioner in command of the fee’s Tender Board Committee.

His exit from the function is just non permanent till the Nigerian Senate confirms his reappointment for a second five-year time period as head of the electoral fee.

President Buhari sent his letter of nomination to the Nationwide Meeting in late October, however lawmakers are at the moment on a break until late November when the nomination is anticipated to be confirmed immediately.

Yakubu and the 5 nationwide commissioners that stepped down on Monday have been inaugurated on November 9, 2015.
