Governor Alia Unveils Infrastructure and Security Initiatives for Benue Communities
Benue State Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia has announced plans to construct the Nyihemba–Anwase–Abande road, aimed at improving accessibility and bolstering security in affected communities.
In a statement released by Chief Press Secretary Sir Tersoo Kula, the governor outlined additional initiatives, including restoring electricity in Anwase, providing clean water to both Nyihemba and Anwase, and deploying additional motorcycles to enhance security surveillance in the region.
Governor Alia made these commitments during a visit to Turan in the Kwande Local Government Area, where he assessed the situation following recent attacks on the Anwase and Abande communities. He assured residents that they have not been abandoned, emphasizing that the safety, lives, and dignity of the people are top priorities for his administration.
To further support safety communications, the governor announced plans to collaborate with telecommunications providers to install network boosters, facilitating improved communication and emergency alerts.
Condemning the recent attacks as unprovoked, Alia reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening partnerships with security agencies. He plans to provide essential logistical support to help restore lasting peace in the affected areas.
Alia expressed confidence in a swift resolution, noting that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been fully briefed on the security challenges and has directed the deployment of additional reinforcements.
During his visit, the governor met with traditional rulers of the Kwande Local Government Area, led by Tor Kwande, HRH Ambrose Pine Iortyer, before addressing residents in Tomataan and Anwase, many of whom were impacted by the violence.
At Jato-Aka in Turan, Governor Alia pledged to restore electricity to the area by providing a new electrical transformer.
