Insecurity: NSA Ribadu has failed, should be sacked – Modibo

Political Analyst Calls for Dismissal of National Security Adviser Amid Escalating Insecurity
A prominent political affairs analyst, Ibrahim Modibo, has urged the Nigerian government to dismiss National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, citing widespread insecurity in the country. Modibo made the statement during a live interview on Arise Television’s “Prime Time” on Friday, asserting that the current security situation has deteriorated significantly under Ribadu’s leadership.
Modibo highlighted recent attacks on military Forward Operating Bases, which resulted in the deaths of at least three General Commanding Officers, as evidence of the failing security framework. He emphasized the need for accountability within the National Security Council.
“The National Security Adviser should be sacked. He has failed. The security architecture has failed,” Modibo stated. He called for a reassessment of Nigeria’s security strategies, suggesting that technological advancements should be better utilized.
During the interview, Modibo questioned the government’s commitment to employing modern technology for surveillance and intelligence gathering. He suggested that enhanced monitoring capabilities, such as surveillance cameras and satellite technology, could significantly improve security operations.
“The base is about five kilometers. We should have officers monitoring these areas 24/7,” he said. He also referred to comments from the Governor of Zamfara State, who indicated that he had visibility over numerous regions from his office.
Modibo raised concerns about the rising trend of kidnappings for ransom, insisting that authorities need to leverage financial tracking technologies to apprehend the perpetrators. “Ransoms have been paid. The security know. Why can’t they use technology to trace these criminals?” he questioned.
The call for action comes amid mounting pressure on the government to address the escalating violence and insecurity affecting various parts of Nigeria.
