Israel bombs Lebanon-Syria border, kills four people | Israel attacks Lebanon News

Developing Story: Israeli Forces Bomb Vehicle Near Lebanese Border, Four Confirmed Dead

Israeli forces conducted an airstrike early Monday morning on a vehicle near the Lebanon-Syria border, resulting in the deaths of at least four individuals, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health.

Lebanon’s National News Agency identified one of the victims as Khaled Mohammad al-Ahmad, a Syrian national.

The Israeli military confirmed the airstrike, stating via a social media post that it targeted members of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) operating in Lebanon. However, the military did not provide evidence to support its claims. The strike reportedly occurred in the Majdal Anjar area.

There has been no immediate response from the PIJ regarding the incident. This group operates alongside Hamas in Gaza, advocating for the establishment of a Palestinian state. Additionally, they are allied with Hezbollah, a Lebanese armed group that has previously engaged in attacks on northern Israel in support of Palestinians amid ongoing violence in Gaza.

Although Israel and Hezbollah agreed to a ceasefire in November 2024, the Israeli military has continued its operations in Lebanon, claiming violations of the U.S.-brokered truce. According to United Nations reports, the Israeli military executed over 10,000 air and ground attacks in the year following the ceasefire agreement.

Additionally, the UN’s rights office noted in November 2025 that it had verified at least 108 civilian casualties from Israeli operations since the ceasefire, including at least 21 women and 16 children. The office also reported that at least 11 Lebanese civilians have been abducted by Israeli forces during the same period.
