The Islamic State in the West African Province (ISWAP) has reportedly whisked away no fewer than seven security men in Borno State in a recent attack.

Reports reaching Naija News at the moment revealed that the assailants in the early hours of Saturday stormed the North Eastern Gubio Local Government Area of the state where they kidnapped their victims including an officer of the Nigeria Police Force.

Among the abducted victims is also four members of the Civilian Joint Task Force(CJTF) and three hunters.

The security men are said to have confronted the terrorists but were overpowered due to their deadly ammunition and large number.

Confirming the incident, a Counter Insurgency Expert and Security Analyst in Lake Chad, Zagazola Makama, said the security men were attacked at the Rural-Urban Migration Site (RUGA), at Pompom Baliya village located about 5 kilometres to Gubio.

He said the terrorists carted away one Hilux patrol vehicle and weapons and afterward moved toward the Gadai village in the Nganzai Local Government area.

In another publication, it was confirmed that officers of the Nigeria Police Force earlier kidnapped in Ogun State have regained their freedom.

Naija News had reported earlier that some personnel were whisked away at broad daylight on Thursday at Wasinmi, in the Ewekoro Local Government Area of the state.

It was gathered that the kidnapped cops had just arrived in Ogun State from Zone 2, Onikan, Lagos State, for an investigation before they fall victim to the assailants.

The police spokesman in Ogun State, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who had insisted that only one policeman was among the three victims, revealed in a statement on Friday night that the kidnappers carried out the operation in military camouflage.

Speaking on the rescue operation, the police mouthpiece said the Commissioner of Police in Ogun, Lanre Bankole, had directed the command’s anti-kidnapping unit and other tactical squads to move into the area and join forces with Ewekoro Divisional Headquarters in rescuing the victims.

With what he called intensive pressure and aggressive trailing, Oyeyemi said that assailants faced pressure from the forces and eventually release their captives.

He said the victims had reunited with their families, adding that the Commissioner of Police had also directed that the kidnappers must be arrested and brought to book.
