ISWAP Targets Nigerian Army Camp in Adamawa State

MAIDUGURI, Nigeria — The Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) launched an attack on the Nigerian Army’s Garahamojili camp in Adamawa State on Tuesday, resulting in the deaths of two soldiers. The assault lasted approximately 20 minutes.

Brant Philip, a security expert focusing on the Sahel region, reported the incident via social media. According to his statement, the insurgents successfully overran the camp, set it ablaze, and destroyed three military vehicles. ISWAP allegedly seized weapons and ammunition during the offensive.

The group characterized the attack as part of its newly initiated “Burn the Camps” campaign. This incident marks the first known targeting of a Nigerian Army camp in Adamawa State by the militant group.

The ongoing violence underscores the challenges faced by security forces in the region as they combat insurgent activities.
