JIGAWA STATE, Nigeria — The Jigawa State Government has approved an increase in the monthly allowances for ward heads, known locally as Maiunguwa, from ₦3,000 to ₦10,000.

The increase was announced following a resolution by the State Executive Council, which was presided over by Governor Malam Umar A. Namadi. The council’s decision aims to support traditional institutions and acknowledge the essential role of ward heads in local governance.

In a statement regarding the increment, the council emphasized its commitment to strengthening grassroots leadership. Governor Namadi highlighted the significance of ward heads, stating they serve as crucial support for traditional institutions by implementing government policies and fostering community development.

“This approach ensures that no group is left behind in our collective effort to build a stronger Jigawa State,” the governor said.
