Kaiama Attack: NEMA Deploys Response Team, Relief Package To Kwara Communities

NEMA Deploys Team Following Bandit Attack in Kwara State
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has dispatched a response team to evaluate and coordinate intervention efforts after a recent bandit attack on the Woro and Nuku communities in the Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State. The assault, which transpired on Tuesday, has resulted in more than 160 fatalities among residents.
In response to the incident, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the expedited provision of relief materials for the survivors. His directives were issued during a briefing in Abuja by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who provided details about the attack.
Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun has also ordered the immediate deployment of tactical and intelligence resources to the affected areas. A statement from the Nigeria Police Force, released Thursday by ACP Benjamin Hundeyin, condemned the violent attack and affirmed the commitment to restoring safety in the region.
NEMA’s Director-General, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, announced on Friday that the agency’s team from the Minna Operations Office has been directed to relocate temporarily to the impacted communities. Their mission includes conducting a thorough on-site assessment of the situation and the needs of those affected.
This assessment will be carried out in collaboration with the Kwara State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and relevant security bodies to ensure a coordinated and effective response.
In preparation for the victims, NEMA has already procured essential food and non-food relief items, which are currently available in the affected communities. In her statement, Umar expressed deep condolences to the victims and the Kwara State Government, reaffirming NEMA’s commitment to providing comprehensive support during this crisis.
