Governor Kefas Highlights Commitment to Taraba’s Mining Sector

JALINGO, Taraba State — Governor Agbu Kefas on Monday emphasized his administration’s dedication to tapping into the state’s abundant solid mineral resources.

The governor made his remarks during the opening of the Stakeholders’ Engagement and Validation Workshop aimed at developing a Mining Sector Roadmap in Jalingo, the state capital.

Addressing attendees through Secretary to the State Government Barrister Gebon Kataps, Governor Kefas called for enhanced collaboration among government agencies, private investors, host communities, and industry experts. He stressed the importance of conducting mining operations in an environmentally responsible and sustainable manner.

He urged stakeholders to contribute effectively to the creation of a comprehensive and investor-friendly roadmap that would guide the sector’s development.

“Establishing a structured and transparent mining framework will not only attract responsible investments but will also generate employment, increase internally generated revenue, and stimulate economic growth in local communities,” Kefas said.

The governor noted that Taraba is rich in solid minerals and that proper regulation, transparency, and adherence to sustainable practices are crucial to his administration’s vision for the mining industry.

He underscored the significance of the validation workshop, describing it as an essential step toward positioning Taraba as a leading mining destination in Nigeria. The workshop aims to produce a validated roadmap that will inform policy direction, enhance value chain development, and strengthen Taraba’s competitiveness within the country’s mining sector.
