Kwankwaso laments killing of 26 people in Kwara, warns of expanding terror threat in Nigeria

Former Kano Governor Raises Alarm Over Rising Violence
KANO, Nigeria — Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano State and national leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has expressed deep concerns regarding escalating insecurity across the nation. His remarks follow the tragic deaths of 162 individuals in the Woro and Nuku communities in Kwara State, an incident that has drawn widespread condemnation.
In a statement posted on his verified Facebook account Wednesday, Kwankwaso highlighted that the attack underscores a troubling trend of violent and terrorist groups expanding their operations into regions once considered safe. He warned that no area of the country is now immune to such threats.
“The continued spread of insecurity poses a serious challenge to national stability and places enormous pressure on the nation’s security architecture, particularly the armed forces,” he stated.
Kwankwaso urged the federal government to respond to these alarming developments with urgency, advocating for decisive and coordinated national action to prevent further loss of innocent lives. He labeled the recent violence as a “barbaric act” that warrants strong condemnation, cautioning that allowing such groups to persist would jeopardize communities nationwide.
In closing, Kwankwaso extended his condolences to the families of the deceased, the people of Kwara State, and the state government, offering prayers for comfort for the bereaved and eternal rest for the victims.
