Kwara Governor Offers Condolences After Attacks in Niger State

Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, who also serves as the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, visited Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago on Thursday to express condolences following recent terrorist attacks in the Borgu Emirate.

The violent incidents resulted in multiple fatalities, significant property damage, and widespread displacement of residents, exacerbating existing security challenges in the region.

During his visit, Abdulrazaq characterized the attacks as tragic, highlighting that they not only resulted in loss of life but also disrupted livelihoods and forced families to abandon their homes. He extended the sympathies of both the Kwara State government and the Nigeria Governors’ Forum to Bago and the people of Niger State.

Abdulrazaq emphasized the need for enhanced collaboration among security agencies and neighboring states to effectively address the escalating threats facing border communities.

In response, Governor Bago expressed gratitude for the visit, calling it a potent symbol of solidarity and shared responsibility between the two states. He noted the geographical and security challenges faced by Kwara and Niger states in the Borgu Emirate, stressing the necessity for coordinated efforts to restore peace and stability in the area.
