Lagos content creator allegedly raped after fake modelling job

Lagos Content Creator Alleges Sexual Assault During Modeling Job
LAGOS, Nigeria — A Lagos-based content creator and thrift vendor, known as Fems Thrift, has alleged that she and a friend were sexually assaulted after being lured to what was purported to be a modeling assignment in the Ajao Estate area of Lagos State.
In a video posted on her TikTok account, Fems claimed the incident occurred on February 8. She explained that a man contacted her on Instagram, claiming to have recently returned from the United Kingdom to launch an international fashion brand in Nigeria. The individual offered her a fee of 140,000 Naira ($320) for the assignment and requested her assistance in promoting the brand across her social media platforms.
Fems stated that she agreed to the job after being assured that a full production team, including a makeup artist, would be present. The initial communication occurred on February 1, and she decided to bring a friend for safety.
Upon arriving at the location at approximately 11 a.m. on the scheduled date, Fems and her friend found the space largely empty. The man allegedly informed them that it was a content creation studio and that the makeup artist had stepped out briefly.
Fems claimed the suspect then asked her to take a shower in preparation for filming and provided a robe for her to wear during the shoot. After she complied, the man reportedly entered the room under the pretense of demonstrating how to lock the door. According to her account, he subsequently locked the door and threatened both women, compelling them to comply with his demands.
Fems further alleged that their mobile phones were seized, and they were forced to unlock private folders, with personal files reportedly transferred to the suspect. She claimed he threatened to publish the materials online if they reported the incident.
“I was threatened with my online presence, saying that if I spoke up, he would release my private videos,” she stated.
It was reported that the women managed to leave the apartment between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. the same day. The video detailing the allegations has received significant attention on social media, with many users calling for the immediate arrest of the suspect and urging law enforcement to investigate. Images purported to be of the alleged perpetrator have also circulated online.
When contacted on Wednesday, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer Abimbola Adebisi stated no formal complaint had been filed as of February 11, 2026. She indicated that efforts were underway to reach the complainant to initiate an investigation.
