Queensland Maroons coach Billy Slater has revealed the latest on Tom Flegler has questions surround his career.

The prop has done nerve damage after suffering an AC joint injury in round five.

Dolphins coach Wayne Bennett told News Corp during the week that Flegler won’t play again this year with Slater explaining the nuances behind the injury.

“It’s not good, they’ve got to wait for the nerve to re-spark, that can take weeks, months, it may never re-spark, so there is a risk in and around his career,” he said on Nine’s Sunday Footy Show.

“I don’t think he’ll play again this year, I think Wayne Bennett has spoken about that but it’s really disappointing because he had elevated himself to one of the elite front rowers in the game.”
