LIVE: Novak’s dad’s ‘horrible’ act slammed

Maddison Inglis has given boyfriend Jason Kubler the stitch-up of the tournament, calling him on live TV this morning.

During Nine’s coverage of the Australian Open this morning, Inglis was appearing to talk about not only her own performance, but that of ‘The Kinkys’ – Kubler and doubles partner Rinky Hijikata, who will tomorrow night play Hugo Nys and Jan Zielinski in the men’s doubles final.

The pair have been dating for more than three years.

Inglis was dared to call Kubler by host Tony Jones, and dutifully did so.

As the phone was ringing, Jones revealed it was Kubler they tried to get on the show.

After he answered, wheelchair legend Dylan Alcott got stuck right into him.

“We tried to book you this morning but you are too busy – what are you too busy doing,?” he jokingly asked.

“Sorry about that – I thought this is one day I’ll get the morning off,” Kubler replied.

The call wrapped up with the panel – which also included Jelena Dokic – wishing him good luck.

Earlier Inglis gave an insight into the bond Kubler and Hijikata had formed through the tournament, and said she believed they are a real chance of winning.

“If they keep doing what they’re doing, they’ve got a pretty good shot,” she said.

“They’re both playing unreal. I’ve been around them a bit – they’re both having a lot of fun. If they keep doing that, they’ll be pretty hard to beat.”

Earlier in the tournament, Hijikata said they were “both as clueless as the other” when asked who the team leader was.

Wheelchair tennis legend Dylan Alcott suggested that inexperience may work in their favour as opposition find it “hard to play against”.

Inglis agreed that was the case earlier in the tournament.

As they prepared for their first grand slam final, she said the pair were above all having fun.

“I watch the warm-ups … they’re taking their shirts off, they’re doing weird little shots,” she said.

“They’re having so much fun,They are really getting along … it’s coming together on court.”

The men’s doubles final will be on Rod Laver Arena tomorrow night following the women’s singles final.
