Man in Custody After Fatal Altercation with Delta Line Driver in Ughelli
UGHELLI, Delta State – Police have arrested an unidentified man in connection with the alleged killing of a Delta Line driver during an altercation on Tuesday.
According to reports, the victim was transporting passengers from Asaba to Warri when his vehicle collided with the suspect’s new Toyota Sienna, damaging its side mirror. Witnesses stated that the driver continued driving without stopping to assess the situation.
In a fit of anger, the suspect pursued the driver and managed to stop him near SG Jones in Ughelli. The Delta Line driver attempted to evade him by swerving to the opposite lane, but the suspect forcibly removed him from the bus.
During the altercation, the driver collapsed. Emergency responders transported him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Delta State Police Public Relations Officer SP Bright Edafe has not yet commented on the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
