Mohbad: Court approves DNA tests in US, UK to confirm Liam’s paternity

Lagos Magistrate Court Approves DNA Testing for Late Singer Mohbad’s Son
The Lagos State Magistrate Court in Ikorodu has approved three laboratories—one in the United States and two in the United Kingdom—to conduct DNA testing for the son of the late singer Mohbad, known as Liam.
Oladayo Ogungbe, legal counsel for Mohbad’s father, announced the court’s decision following a recent session. He indicated that the testing would involve the participation of all relevant parties for the collection of samples. The singer’s widow, Wunmi, and Joseph Aloba, Mohbad’s father, each selected a laboratory, while the court designated an independent facility.
This development follows a request from Mohbad’s father for a DNA test in light of the circumstances surrounding the singer’s death in September 2023.
“The court has approved three DNA laboratory centers: two in the United Kingdom and one in the United States,” Ogungbe stated. “One was chosen by us, one by them, and the court selected an independent one.”
The matter is set to resume on April 7, 2026, at which time the collection of samples will be monitored by welfare officers.
