Muslim Council sacks Chief Imam in Ondo

The Chief Imam of Ikare Mosque, Sheikh Abubakar Muhammed Abbas, has been sacked by Ikare Muslim Council as confirmed in a letter dated October 10, 2022.

The decision was reached at a meeting held on October 9, 2022. In the letter signed by the council’s chairman, Adewale Jimoh Abayomi and the secretary, Alhaji R. Ayeigbusi, it was revealed that the Okukare of Ikare, Oba Saliu Akadiri Momoh IV, approved the decision.

The Nation however reported that the League of Imams and Alfas in the state has rejected the sack of Sheikh Abbas.

The group said its stand was in line with the decision and resolution of the Ikare Muslim Community crisis by the Ondo State Government.
