NAFDAC Bust Counterfeit Warehouse, Recover Cosmetics Worth N3B In Lagos

NAFDAC Discovers Over N3 Billion in Banned Cosmetic Products in Lagos
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has discovered a warehouse containing counterfeit and unregistered cosmetic products worth over N3 billion at the APT Trade Fair Complex in Lagos State.
In a statement released on Sunday through its official X account, NAFDAC reported that the illegal facility was located within an uncompleted building at the trade complex.
Officials recovered significant quantities of banned items, including 728 cartons of Crusader soap, 718 cartons of E45 soap, and Extract Gold whitening soaps. Additional findings included various perfumes, body oils, and cooking oils, all of which have been seized for further regulatory assessment. To prevent distribution, all seized products have been moved to secure locations.
The agency has invited the warehouse manager for questioning as part of its ongoing investigation into the matter. NAFDAC cautioned that the sale and use of these products pose serious health risks and urged the public to remain vigilant, reporting any suspicious activities to local offices.
In a related enforcement action, NAFDAC previously shut down 18 warehouses in Niger State following the discovery of expired food products valued at over N100 million. Officials emphasized the grave risk such expired items pose to public health and safety, particularly as some products were reportedly tampered with before being reintroduced to the market.
