NAFDAC orders recall of male enhancement capsules over safety concerns

NAFDAC Issues Warning Over MR.7 Super 700000 Capsule Recall
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has announced the recall of all batches of MR.7 Super 700000 capsules, citing safety concerns related to undisclosed pharmaceutical ingredients.
The warning was released on Monday through a public notice on NAFDAC’s website. The recall was prompted by the manufacturer, StuffbyNainax LLC, following testing by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that revealed the presence of undeclared sildenafil and tadalafil, substances commonly utilized in medications for erectile dysfunction.
Both ingredients are classified as phosphodiesterase (PDE-5) inhibitors and are considered unapproved drugs when not disclosed on product labels, thus raising concerns about their safety and effectiveness.
Promoted online as a dietary supplement for male enhancement, MR.7 Super 700000 capsules should not be marketed as such if they contain these substances, according to NAFDAC. The recall applies to all currently available batches.
NAFDAC advises consumers who possess the capsules to cease usage and return them to the nearest NAFDAC office. The agency also encourages healthcare professionals and the public to report any suspected counterfeit or substandard medicines and adverse reactions through its official channels.
The consumption of products containing undeclared sildenafil or tadalafil may pose serious health risks. NAFDAC noted that these substances can interact dangerously with nitrates found in prescription medications for heart conditions, such as nitroglycerin, potentially leading to life-threatening drops in blood pressure.
Individuals with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or heart disease, particularly adult men using nitrate medications, are advised to exercise caution.
This recall follows previous alerts from NAFDAC regarding unsafe and counterfeit medicines circulating in Nigeria. Recently, the agency warned about counterfeit Avastin 400 mg vials, a medication used to treat recurrent glioblastoma, after concerns were raised by a local oncologist regarding the authenticity of certain vials.
NAFDAC reiterated its commitment to safeguarding public health through ongoing monitoring of the safety, quality, and effectiveness of medicines and regulated products in Nigeria.
