Nigerian Education Loan Fund Extends Application Deadline for Student Loans
The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced an extension of its Student Loan Application Portal for institutions that requested additional time for the 2025/2026 academic session.
In a statement released Thursday, NELFUND’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Akintunde Sawyerr, confirmed that the extension is specifically for institutions that submitted official requests. This measure aims to allow eligible students more time to complete their applications on the fund’s portal.
Sawyerr emphasized NELFUND’s dedication to providing access to the student loan program for all qualifying Nigerian students. “NELFUND remains committed to ensuring that eligible students across participating institutions have the opportunity to access the student loan programme,” he stated.
The fund urged all eligible students from the affected institutions to utilize the extended deadline and finalize their applications through the official NELFUND portal. NELFUND reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and accountability while striving to deliver sustainable financing solutions that alleviate financial barriers to higher education in Nigeria.
