Student Shot by Nigerian Army Personnel in Benue State

A student from NKST Secondary School in Sai, located in the Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State, was reportedly shot by Nigerian Army personnel on Wednesday evening. The incident occurred as soldiers were returning from Tse Jato, where they had escorted the body of an individual allegedly killed by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

According to local residents, the student was struck by a stray bullet during the military’s passage through the community. Following the shooting, he was taken to a nearby clinic in Sai, where he is currently receiving medical attention.

Family members confirmed that the victim’s household had previously been displaced due to ongoing security issues in the region. Local residents are calling for the Nigerian Army to investigate the shooting and hold accountable those responsible.

The condition of the student has not been publicly disclosed, but community members have expressed their hopes for his swift recovery. Efforts to obtain further details from the Benue State Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Udeme Edet, were unsuccessful.
