Suspects Intercepted with Large Sum of Cash in Borno State
Borno State officials reported that troops engaged in Operation HADIN KAI apprehended five individuals suspected of transporting approximately 37 million naira in cash under suspicious circumstances.
Security expert Zagazola Makama shared details of the incident on his official X account on Monday. According to the report, the suspects were traveling in a red Golf wagon with registration number MNG 463 XA, headed toward Magumeri when they were stopped at a routine security checkpoint.
During the search, troops discovered the significant amount of cash concealed in a “Ghana must go” bag as well as a separate sack. Initial statements from the suspects, which included two women and three men, indicated confusion regarding the total amount they possessed. They later claimed the money was intended for distribution by a non-governmental organization.
In addition to the cash, the search yielded approximately 10 mobile phones belonging to the suspects. Further investigations are ongoing as authorities look into the circumstances surrounding the discovery.
