Nigerians are sufficiently afflicted – Mahdi Shehu laments Tinubu’s N34bn foreign trips

Mahdi Shehu Criticizes President Tinubu Over Foreign Travel Expenses
Mahdi Shehu has expressed strong disapproval of President Bola Tinubu in light of reports indicating that the Presidency spent over N34 billion on foreign travel in the past two years. Shehu characterized the expenditures as “heartless governance.”
In a post on X on Monday, Shehu responded to findings that detailed total spending of approximately N34.39 billion on foreign exchange for international trips and related official activities over a 24-month period. According to Shehu, this spending reflects a disregard for the challenges faced by many Nigerians.
“This is heartlessness in governance,” he stated, further condemning the expenditures as forms of governance terrorism, democratic robbery, and political banditry. He described the financial allocations as economic sabotage, labeling them both immoral and indecent.
Shehu argued that the spending demonstrates a significant misuse of public resources, highlighting what he termed infinite local and foreign missteps. He further claimed that this situation constitutes a crime against humanity and a deliberate destruction of resources.
“Even angels in heaven will put a continuous curse on this recklessness. Nigerians are sufficiently afflicted,” Shehu added in his remarks.
