No. 6 LSU falls to No. 3 Utah on the road in opener

Salt Lake City, Utah – LSU Gymnastics fell to Utah on the road in their season opener by a final score of 197.275-196.725 on Friday night.

LSU started off competing on bars, finishing with a 49.000 for the event. Sophomore Alexis Jeffrey had a team-high 9.875 for the event. Junior Haleigh Bryant added a 9.825 to help the Tigers in the first rotation.

On vault, Bryant had a 9.900 to help the Tigers score a 49.300 for the event. Senior Kiya Johnson added a 9.875 and Elena Arenas and Aleah Finnegan both scored a 9.850 to bolster the lineup.

Junior Sierra Ballard set the tone by starting off the floor rotation with a 9.825. Finnegan added a career high 9.950 and Kiya Johnson had a 9.900 to help LSU finish with a 49.375 for the third rotation.

On beam, the Tigers finished with 49.050 to round out the fourth and final rotation on the road. Bryant had a 9.850 and Finnegan continued her dominant night, scoring a 9.900. Freshman Bryce Wilson made her official debut in purple and gold on beam, scoring a 9.775.

Both Haleigh Bryant and Aleah Finnegan finished as the all-around leaders for the meet, scoring a 39.450 to share the title for the night.
