'No question': Dogs star slammed for 'deliberate' crusher

Bulldogs utility Kurt Mann faces a nervous wait after he was sin binned for a “deliberate” crusher tackle on Eels centre Will Penisini.

Mann was given his marching orders in the 55th minute with Parramatta leading 18-10, but the visitors failed to make Canterbury pay during the 10-minute period.

The 31-year-old’s ugly act drew the ire of league great Greg Alexander, who was stunned by the nature of the incident which he wants “stamped out” of the game.

“That’s the example of a crusher we don’t want to see,” he said on Fox League.

“That’s a crusher that should be penalised and put on report. That’s a deliberate crusher. No question about that, none at all.

“I thought we’d actually got that intentional crusher out of the game where all crushers were accidental and all players got into awkward positions.

“That is the one we want stamped out.”

Cooper Cronk echoed the sentiments of his co-commentator and praised referee Peter Gough for handling the situation swiftly.

“Absolutely right call there from the officials,” he said.

Despite being down a man at a crucial period of the game, Canterbury managed to mount a late comeback as unlikely hero Blake Wilson scored the match-winning try.

Stephen Crichton and Connor Tracey starred for the Dogs in the 22-18 victory, while Matt Burton’s towering bombs caused havoc for the Eels back three.

Jacob Preston and Josh Curran were both taken from the field by the medi-cab after suffering leg and head injuries respectively, while rookie utility Bailey Hayward was taken off in the first half after suffering a head knock.
