NPFL: Ikorodu stun Enyimba, Remo Stars falter again
Ikorodu City Ascends to Top of Nigeria Premier Football League
Ikorodu City secured the top position in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) following a decisive 1-0 victory over Enyimba in Aba on Sunday. Joseph Arumala netted the only goal of the match in the 29th minute.
With this win, Ikorodu City now leads the league standings with 44 points accumulated over 26 matches.
In contrast, the defending champions, Remo Stars, continued to struggle, ending their match against Abia Warriors in a 1-1 draw at home. Former NPFL top scorer Chukwuemeka Obioma struck first for Abia Warriors in the 54th minute, but Remo Stars’ Samson Olasupo equalized with 12 minutes remaining.
Meanwhile, Rangers climbed to second place in the league following a 2-0 win against Wikki Tourists at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu. Wisdom Ebirim and Godwin Obaje each scored for Rangers, helping to secure the victory.
