NPFL: NIS boss Shaibu reveals affinity for Bendel Insurance, Plateau United, Rangers

NIS Director General Expresses Support for NPFL Clubs
H.E. Philip Shaibu, the Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Institute for Sports (NIS), has expressed his fondness for three clubs in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL): Bendel Insurance, Plateau United, and Enugu Rangers.
During a visit to Plateau United’s training ground, Shaibu acknowledged his personal connections to these clubs and discussed his initial concerns regarding the performance of Bendel Insurance and Plateau United at the start of the current season.
“I have a sentimental attachment to these three clubs,” Shaibu said. “When the league started, I wasn’t happy with Bendel Insurance and Plateau United due to their poor performance. Both teams were struggling in the standings.”
However, Shaibu praised the players for their recent resurgence. “I am happy, especially with the way they have turned things around,” he added. “They still have the opportunity to win the title, and that is why I am encouraged.”
Shaibu’s remarks reflect a growing hope for the clubs as the season progresses.
