IBADAN, Nigeria — Shooting Stars overcame Rivers United with a 2-1 victory in a rescheduled Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) matchday 28 fixture at Lekan Salami Stadium on Thursday night.
Sodiq Ibrahim opened the scoring in the 24th minute with a precise finish following an impressive assist from Ayobami Abiodun. Rivers United responded and equalized through Wasiu Falolu, who found the back of the net with 21 minutes remaining in the match.
The decisive moment came in stoppage time when Qamar Adegoke scored the winning goal, securing three points for Shooting Stars.
With this victory, Shooting Stars climbed to sixth place in the league standings, while Rivers United remained at the top.
Shooting Stars are scheduled to host Wikki Tourists this weekend for their matchday 30 clash, while Rivers United will travel to face Ikorodu City on Sunday.
