NSCDC arrests 10 over vandalism, kidnapping, theft in FCT, neighbouring states

NSCDC Arrests 10 in Connection with Infrastructure Vandalism, Kidnapping

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has apprehended 10 suspects linked to the vandalism of critical national infrastructure, as well as incidents of kidnapping and theft, within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and neighboring states.

This development was announced in a statement by the NSCDC’s National Public Relations Officer, Assistant Commandant of Corps Afolabi Babawale.

According to Babawale, the arrests were part of a broader initiative directed by Commandant-General Ahmed Abubakar Audi. The initiative aims to enhance efforts against economic sabotage and related criminal activities that threaten national assets.

The arrests were executed by the NSCDC’s Special Intelligence Squad in collaboration with the Crack Squad, following credible intelligence reports and renewed operational directives.

The agency reported that items confiscated from the suspects include vandalized armored cables and weapons believed to have been used in their criminal activities.

“The suspects will be charged in court upon completion of investigations,” the Corps stated.

The NSCDC reaffirmed its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against economic sabotage, warning that those involved in the destruction of public infrastructure would face legal consequences. The agency also assured residents of the FCT and nearby areas of its determination to protect lives, property, and critical national assets.
