NSCDC Arrests Scrap Dealer for Cable Vandalism in Jigawa State

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Jigawa State Command announced the arrest of a 50-year-old scrap dealer suspected of vandalizing electrical cables.

The incident occurred in Maruwa town, located within the Kafin Hausa Local Government Area. The arrested individual was found in possession of approximately 267 meters of aluminum cable valued at an estimated N573,300, according to a statement from the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASC Badruddeen Tijjani Mahmud.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the cable was allegedly stored at the suspect’s residence by two accomplices, identified only as Sani and Auwalu, both from Ruba village. These individuals remain at large.

The suspect is currently in custody while authorities continue efforts to locate and apprehend the two fleeing accomplices.

In response to the incident, the State Commandant of the NSCDC issued a warning to anyone involved in the vandalism of critical national assets and infrastructure, emphasizing that such illegal activities will not be tolerated. The Commandant urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to public infrastructure to the appropriate security agencies.

The NSCDC reiterated its commitment to safeguarding critical national assets and ensuring the safety of lives and property in Jigawa State.
