Nyesom Wike: You didn?t fall from heaven. Outside God, we made you - Former PDP chairman, Uche Secondus

A former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Uche Secondus, has taken a swipe at the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

While speaking at the commissioning of a road project in Rivers state on Tuesday, December 18,  Secondus said it is God, himself and other leaders that made Wike who is currently fighting with his successor, Governor Sim Fubara.

Fubara and Wike have been at loggerheads over control of the political structure of the state. The feud between the duo sparked a political crisis in the state, leading to conflicting court orders and polarisation of the Rivers House of Assembly. Back in April, Wike criticised Secondus and other leaders of the PDP in Rivers, for declaring support for Fubara. Wike who is a former governor of Rivers state also described Secondus as an “expired politician” who is not worthy of being called an “elder statesman”.

In an apparent response to Wike, Secondus while speaking at the commissioning of the road project, said;

“Those who are shouting in Abuja, how were they made? It was God. Some of us, and the leaders seated here today, made it possible. God first, because we do not want to take God’s glory.

I can recall during my Thanksgiving service, immediately after I was made national chairman, he said it clearly, outside God, it was my humble self and other leaders who made it possible. Today, when he speaks, either in Abuja or here, it appears as if he fell from heaven.” he said

The former PDP chair also described Fubara as a man of few words who respects elders.

“I can tell you, the test of a leader is when you find yourself in confusion and frustration, yet come out of it with even greater faith. Like Governor Fubara, you will see the real leader of the people. He is not a man who seeks accolades. We have seen him. Do not worry. Power comes from God. The same way God gave it to him through us, God has given it to you. From what we are seeing, you will excel. One thing that is important in the Ten Commandments is, ‘love your neighbour as yourself’. You are spreading that part of the Ten Commandments across our state. You love everybody. You respect leaders and elders, and all we can do is pray for you.” he said
