Ogun govt denies endorsing any candidate for Awujale of Ijebuland

Ogun State Government Denies Endorsement of Awujale Aspirant
The Ogun State Government has dismissed reports claiming it has endorsed Prince Ademorin Aliu Kuye as the next Awujale of Ijebuland.
In a statement from Hazmat Ganiyu, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the government clarified it has not adopted or supported any candidate for the traditional position. This response follows circulating claims that an Ifa oracle had designated Prince Kuye as the chosen candidate and that the state had endorsed this outcome. Officials characterized these reports as false and misleading.
The government emphasized that it does not interfere in the selection process for a new Awujale, pointing out that the procedure is governed by existing laws, established protocols, and recognized traditional practices. “Any claim that the government has approved or adopted a candidate through an oracle or any informal arrangement is untrue and should be disregarded,” the statement asserted.
Furthermore, the government announced a temporary suspension of the succession process due to several complaints and petitions regarding the methods employed thus far. This pause aims to facilitate a thorough review, ensuring transparency, legality, and fairness in the selection process.
Reaffirming its commitment to peace and due diligence, the Ogun State Government encouraged the public to rely solely on official communications and to refrain from disseminating unverified information that might incite unnecessary tension.
