Orange peel powder, the multipurpose magic powder for skin

Orange peel contains Vitamin C which brightens skin and protects skin from environmental damage called free radicals. In a country as humid and dusty as Nigeria, your skin needs all the protection it can get.

Blackheads can be a result of acne scars or hyperpigmentation. Orange peel powder is a good exfoliator.

The sun damages your skin and causes wrinkles. Ageing also reduces the elasticity of your skin and causes wrinkles. All these can be reversed by the anti-inflammatory qualities of orange peels.

Making orange peel powder is so easy;

  1. Peel the outer layer of orange. Do not include any white parts.
  2. Lay them out on a tray and cover them with a thin piece of cloth.
  3. Keep it under the sun for four or five days.
  4. Put in a blender and blend till it becomes fine powder.
  5. Store in a container with a tight lid.

You can use this powder for different face masks for many purposes.

Some people have wide pores on their skin. This can be remedied with orange peel and yoghurt. Yoghurt has lactic acid which is an exfoliator.

Mix one teaspoon of orange peel powder with two tablespoons of yoghurt and one tablespoon of oatmeal.

Apply the paste on your face for ten minutes and then wash it off.

Dry skin doesn’t look good, moisturize your skin with milk, honey and orange peel powder.

Take one teaspoon of orange powder and mix it with two tablespoons each of honey and milk.

Apply on skin and wash off after ten minutes. Then, moisturise your skin.

If you want your complexion to glow, then try this combination.

Mix half a teaspoon of orange peel powder with two tablespoons of cooked rice (mashed) and one tablespoon of aloe vera gel. Mix it into a paste and apply it to the face. Rinse off after 15 minutes.

Don’t be surprised I mentioned cooked rice, cooked rice increases collagen and prevents wrinkling but I guess that is an article for another day.
